GOI releasing aadhaar-linked payment app

Government of India is soon going to launch it's aadhaar-linked payment app in a step to move closer to cashless economy. According to Hon. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, about 40 Cr. accounts have been linked to aadhaar. And the GOI is planning to promote Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) where bio-metric devices could be connected to smartphones and can be used as POS.

According to CSC SPV CEO, Dinesh Tyagi, they are going to launch UPI enabled application where customers can feed Aadhaar number, scan finger on bio-metric and approve the payment for merchant on the application. There willnot be any need to share bank account details.

Training Programme by GOI

The government is planning to train people to do digital transactions. GOI will be training 14 Lac village level entrepreneur (VLE) across 500 districts to carry out digital transactions. Add per plan each VLE is to train 40 individuals to cover 80 lac. individuals and 10 shopkeepers. 

The government has planned a huge activity towards cashless economy.
